mortgage online - Govt will buy land for housing
The government is expected to announce plans to buy more land to help reach its building targets.
Caroline Flint, housing minister, is set to make the announcement, which sources close to current negotiations told industry publication, Building, would take advantage of falling land prices.
Ms Flint said previously: “There is an overwhelming case for building more housing and we must remain as ambitious as possible.”
The government hopes to build three million more homes by 2020 in a drive to solve the current housing problem.
A lack of affordable homes and tighter borrowing rules is making it difficult for young couples to get their first mortgage.
According to the British Bankers Association, new mortgage lending has weakened and all forms of mortgage approvals have declined.
